No. Unlike many other motorcycle related sources and forums, MotorcycleMentor.com welcomes riders of ALL types of motorcycles. Instead of characterizing you as a Sport-Touring, Scooter, Dual-Sport, Sport-Bike, Dirt-Bike, or a Cruiser rider, we believe "Motorcycle Rider" is the most important classification.

5. Does it matter where I live?

No. We have subscribers that live all over the world!

No problem. MotorcycleMentor.com is a great tool for those just considering getting into the sport.

7. Why did you start MotorcycleMentor.com?

I re-entered the sport of motorcycling several years ago. While I found many online sources, most were either model-specific, or lacked the depth that I was looking for.

I quickly became frustrated. I wanted help from knowledgable riders, who were not only serious about riding better, but were also willing to share their experiences.

I needed a motorcycle mentor!

Luckily, I found an experienced rider who was willing to walk me through the process of selecting a motorcycle, and to guide me through the first years of motorcycle ownership. I had no idea there was so much to know about selecting a bike, wearing the right gear, and learning to ride correctly to reduce risks.

8. Is MotorcycleMentor.com just for new riders?

No. If you are interested in improving your riding skills, learning more about other types of motorcycles, or would like to share your riding experiences with less experienced riders, MotorcycleMentor.com is for you.

9. What if I have a particular problem that I can't find covered on MotorcycleMentor.com?

Perfect, the forum is a wonderful way for us all to interact and learn together. We also encourage subscribers to suggest topics for future articles, videos, and tips.

The MotorcycleMentor.com forum is a way for all subscribers to interact and learn together. Have a specific question? I bet someone else has struggled with the same issue. The forum promises to be an incredible (near real time) interactive tool that will be both informative and fun.

11. Do you ONLY talk about subjects like "Counter-Steering" and "Rake Angle" on MotorcycleMentor.com?

No. While these are important subjects, no one wants to read article after article on the physics of motorcycling... not even me (Mr. Engineer). Want a glimpse of what I am talking about... just head over to the sample articles and read one of Pete's "HelmetThoughts™" articles.

12. Someone described MotorcycleMentor.com as a "Gated Community." What does this mean?

Our goal: for every subscriber to feel comfortable asking any question.

Ever participated in an online forum, where just one or two obnoxious posters ruined it for everyone. Bubba and Butch couldn't keep from blasting everything anyone had to say. As a subscription site, the Butch and Bubba type won't be allowed to ruin it for everyone.

Since only a limited number of subscribers will be allowed to join, the site will stay manageable... with a strong community feel.

We do this to reduce spam, and to make sure people don't sign up others without getting their permission. We strongly encourage Subscribers to also sign up for our Weekly Riding Tips.
